Groups reject new MOSOP executive team

Lagos – Some pressure groups have disapproved the swearing-in of new executives for the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP).

Among these are the MOSOP Kingdom Coordinators and the Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL).

MOSOP Kingdom Coordinators said they condemned the swearing-in, led by one Godwin Gininwa, of a group of miscreants led by one Mike Lube-Nwidobie.

“MOSOP Coordinators hereby dissociates themselves from the activities of Gininwa and this fake group who is purportedly headed by one Mike Lube-Nwidobie and urges the Ogoni people to call the Korokoro chief to order before he plunges Ogoni into crises,” the organisation said.

The group urged the general public to distance themselves from Gininwa, Lube-Nwidobie on issues relating to MOSOP and the Ogoni as they were “a bunch of irresponsible persons” acting without the authority of MOSOP or the Ogoni people.

“We also pledge our commitment to MOSOP under the leadership of our re-elected president, Legborsi Saro Pyagbara and urge the Ogoni people to give their continuous support.”

BNYL Public Relations Officer, Aghaulor Godspower, said the organisation also opposed the swearing-in.

“We won’t recognize any government that is formed by few selfish people, the various ethnic groups of Biafran origin must be consulted and well represented,” Godspower said.

MOSOP is a mass based social movement organization of the indigenous Ogoni people.
