Harcourt — An Ogoni socio-political organisation, Kagote, which comprises of Eleme, Gokana, Khana and Tai local government areas, has announced that despite not having one of their own fielded by the frontline political parties for February’s governorship election, Ogoni people would forge on against all odds.
This was contained in a resolution reached at the end of the organisation’s meeting in Bori, traditional headquarters of Ogoni, read by the president of Kagote, Peter Medee.
Medee, who said the organisation arrived at the position following painstaking consultations, insisted that since the desire of Rivers people seems to favour rotation of power between the upland and the riverine areas, political parties should consider Ogoni as next, given that the riverine question is near achievable.
“Despite the neglect of our quest for political emancipation, Ogoni governorship dream is alive. Ogoni is a very complex area when it comes to politics; we were consulting, we did a lot of consultation and we did a lot of research.
