The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two persons, including a female, for their involvement in the killing of a youth and the destruction of the palace of the traditional ruler of Taabaa community in Khana local government area of the state.
About 50 armed youths suspected to be members of a secret cult had on September 19, 2014, invaded the community, where they killed the youth, and raided the residence of the paramount ruler of the area, destroying properties.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmad Muhammad, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the suspects, Friday Dournubari, and Rose Kianaagbo, were arrested at Lorre community, also in Khana local government area of the state, following a tip off.
Muhammad stated that the traditional ruler of Taabaa community, Chief Kabari Nule, whose palace, the hoodlums raided, have identified the two suspects as part of the gang that attacked his palace.
He said efforts were on by the state police command to track down and arrest 48 other members of the gang, who are believed to be on the run.
The statement reads in part, “You will recall sometime on 19/09/2014 some unknown hoodlums attacked the Palace of the traditional ruler of Taabaa community in Khana local government area, where one man was killed.
