Tension Mounts Over Youth’s Murder in Rivers Community

OGONI–There was heavy tension, yesterday, in Gokana Local Council of Rivers state as youths said to be from Nwebiara community allegedly ambushed and killed an okada rider from Barako community.

Vanguard gathered that the boys who killed the Okada rider, Mr. Letura, had on that day booked him to take them to Nwebiara community. A source said he was murdered as he took the boys to the place where they negotiated with him that they were going.

The source also revealed that the two communities have been locked in deep communal crisis adding that several lives have gone in relation to the crisis.

A senior officer from the Police Divisional Headquarters in Gokana LGA confirmed the incident, adding that investigations are on to unravel what led to Letura’s death and the culprits
