Amaechi Condoles With First Lady Over Mum’s Death

Rivers State Governor and Chairman, Nigerian Governors’ Forum(NGF) ChibuikeAmaechi has condoled with the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan over her mother’s death.

In a statement in Port Harcourt, yesterday, Amaechi said he received the demise of Madam Charity Iwari Oba with shock and sadness.

It would be recalled that Madam Oba, popularly called Sisi died in an auto crash on the Isiokpo-Elele Road in Rivers State, on Monday July 22.

The statement reads; “It is with utmost shock and sadness that we received the news of the death of your dear mother, confidant and cherished companion, Madam Charity Iwari Oba.

“No doubt the demise of a loved one leaves us feeling hollow and alone. Yet, in the midst of our pain, we must not forget that we are Christians and therefore should not mourn like those without hope.

 

Amaechi’s Wife visits First Lady

The wife of the Rivers State governor, Mrs. Judith Amaechi, has visited the home of the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan to commiserate with her over the death of her mother, Madam Charity Oba.

Mrs. Amaechi who was accompanied on the visit by State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, signed the condolence register which was placed in front of a large portrait of the deceased and a photograph for her grandchild, Favour, who was also a victim in the fatal accident.

 

Anglican Women Mourn

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has said that only the Almighty could provide strength in trying times. The First Lady made this remark in her home in Otuoke, Bayelsa State when members of the Anglican Diocesan Women’s Guild, Bayelsa Chapter, led by its president, Mrs. Ayebaene Oruwori held a prayer session.

Dame Jonathan acknowledged the importance of mortals placing their trust in God at all times, and added “it is only the Almighty who has the ability to fill the vacuum created by the death of my mother”.
