A member of the Senate Committee on State Creation, Nenadi Usman, on Monday said none of the 17 requests for the creation of more states met the provision of the constitution.
She stated this while addressing leaders and stakeholders from Southern Kaduna, who are requesting the creation of Gurara State out of the present Kaduna State.
The Senator, who said the requests did not meet the required conditions, however, noted that the Senate might reconsider its position on the creation of new states.
According to the Senator representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial District, based on the agitation for more states, the Senate may give a second chance to correct the anomaly in the requests for new states.
Advising those seeking new states to return to agitators to the drawing board, the Senator particularly urged the people of the proposed Gurara State to cooperate with the leadership of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union and the Gurara State Creation Committee in order for them actualise their dreams.
