We Have no Crisis in MOSOP – MOSOP Leaders

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People says the organization is not going through any crisis at this time. This was the position of the MOSOP Kingdom Coordinators Forum at the end of its meeting in Bori on Tuesday. Spokesman for the group Frank Jonah maintained that like every other social organization, views are bound to differ and such differences does not represent any crisis in the organization.

Mr. Frank Jonah maintained that Ogoni people are peace loving and have insisted on maintaining the non-violent approach to pursue their desire for self determination noting that no amount of distraction or sponsored designs will distract the people from the resolve to survive the harsh and cruel treatment of meted on the people by the Nigerian state.

Mr. Frank Jonah further said that the Ogoni people have made a fair and just proposal to the Nigerian state which is contained in the Ogoni Bill of Rights.

He regretted that the large ethnic groups in collaboration with racist organizations like Royal Dutch Shell have continued to sustain the suppression of the Ogoni people through laws like the Land Use Act and Petroleum Act.

Frank noted that some of the laws in Nigeria today were decried under dictatorial regimes and demand robust amendment to give it a more human face.

The Kingdom Coordinators Forum is a representation of all the groups and affiliates of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People in the over 200 communities in Ogoniland.
