UNPO Cook Book: Recipes & Pictures Of Traditional Ogoni Dishes Wanted

The UNPO, an international organisation aimed at promoting human and cultural rights of the unrepresented nations and peoples around the globe have requested for recipes and pictures of traditional Ogoni dishes as they clock 20 years of human rights protection for its member nations and organisations.  We encourage those that have passion and love for the Ogoni culture to send pictures of Ogoni traditional recipes to the email they have provided at the end of the message below.  While other Nations will be sending in theirs, please let’s endeavour to send in ours as well.  For more information about UNPO, please visit their official website at http://www.unpo.org/

Below is a message sent by UNPO Secretariat to HURAC.

Everyone can participate!!

Good morning everyone,

Upon reaching over 20 years of arduous advocacy for our members, the UNPO would like to present our newest project: the UNPO Cook Book. The idea behind this is that we will put together a book with traditional recipes from our members in order to promote their cultural heritage. This would be a great way to make their cause closer to people’s hearts, and also bring awareness to their long struggle against human rights violations!

However, in order to do this, we need to gather as many recipes and pictures as we can. For copyright issues, we are not able to use google images, which is why we are inviting everyone from the Ogoni community to participate. Please send us recipes and pictures of traditional Ogoni dishes and the best ones will be published in the UNPO Cook Book.

Please send the documents to the following email: l.farias@unpo.org. We will then make a selection and choose some to include in our book!

Just a quick background, Ogoni has been a member of the UNPO since 1993. During this period, UNPO has worked on several projects with them in order to draw international attention to their cause, including the 2010 Clean the Niger Delta Campaign. Ken Saro Wiwa was the Vice Chair of UNPO until 1995.

Thank you very much!
