Gowon Joins in Condemning Gas Flaring in Nigeria
Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, has joined the condemnation of the amount of gas resources the nation is flaring away in the Niger-Delta. General Gowon made this known when he paid a visit to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) plant Finima, Bonny Island.
The visit is coming years after his administration laid the seed of the liquefied natural gas business in Nigeria.
General Gowon who arrived the island on a private jet, was accompanied by top management staff of the company.
After the welcome protocol at the air strip, he headed to the board room of the NLNG where the Managing Director presented the company’s score card to the former Head of State.
General Gowon in his remark went down memory lane tracing the many failed attempts made to build the NLNG project.
The former leader reviewed and expressed his delight with the progress made by the NLNG project, especially the presence of Nigerians in the top management of the company.
He however was not pleased with Nigeria’s dwindling fortunes in the world of gas market
