Barely hours after the inauguration of the New Governing Council of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (UST), the two remaining unaccredited courses of the University have now gained full accreditation by the NUC.
The two courses are Architecture and Land Survey, ”which were the only two programmes left to be accredited in the institution” before now.
A statement from the office of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Barine Fakae, which announced this in Port Harcourt, said with this development, “all programmes not accredited before the tenure of Prof. Fakae as the Vice Chancellor have all now scaled through the quality assurance test”.
Reacting to this, the State Commissioner of Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari said “it is cheering that the news of the accreditation of the last two courses in the University came on the eve of the inauguration of the New Governing Council and is a testimony that the Governor was right in his decision over the appointment of the Board members and Vice Chancellor.”
“What is important to this administration is to give our students a competitive edge in academics” the Information Commissioner said, and commended the Justice Karibi-White led Governing Council and the Vice Chancellor for the achievement.
