Focus on Gokana: Giant Strides in Agricultural Development and Electricity Distribution

Hon. Demua Ledee Deemua is redefining governance as one with a sense of purpose and service to the people. His determination in the task of transforming Gokana has left no one in doubt. In an environment where more than 70 percent of the population are farmers, Hon. Demua has made giant strides in human capacity development while maintaining support for rural farmers.

The local government is the only local government council that had paid its counterpart funding to the FADAMA 111 Project. The council has also made available, a revolving loan of over 3million naira to the Fadama users group. Within the period, one year, 26million naira has been disbursed to the respective groups, helping them to boost food production in the area. The council has during the past year procured over 600 bags of fertilizer at the exact manufacturer’s price and distributed to farmers.
Electricity Distribution: Boosting Economic Life
Gokana local government realises that business thrives only when there is reliable power supply. The Ledee Demua led team in Gokana Local Government Area has ensured that all seventeen(17) communities in Gokana Local Government area are hooked up to the national grid with the communities relieved of overbearing power consumption bills as the council pays the electricity bills for the communities. Gokana council has also provided transformers to some communities including Gbe, Gaagaa, Borghor, Bera, and Bodo. The main entrance into Gokana has also been illuminated with streetlights.
