NGO alleges neglect of women in Ogoni clean-up

PORT HARCOURT—A Non-governmental organisation, NGO, in Rivers State, Lokiaka Community Development Centre, has expressed sadness over alleged neglect of Ogoni women in the clean-up process in the area.

The body stated this in Eleme Local Government Area of the state while training women on raising Ogoni forest resources, nurseries, in support of the environmental clean-up, remediation and restoration process of Ogoniland.

Executive Director of the NGO, Martha Agbani, expressed dismay at what she said was the total neglect of Ogoni women in the clean-up exercise, harping on the need for the involvement of Ogoni women in the remediation process.
