Abe commends Buhari over Ogoni Clean-up Board approval

All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Rivers South-East senatorial district in the legislative re-run election in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving a 13-man Governing Council and 10-member Board of Trustees, BOT, for the clean-up of Ogoniland.

In a statement in Port Harcourt, yesterday, Mr. Parry Benson, spokesperson to Senator Abe, said that the President has demonstrated sincerity and commitment to the project and has proved sceptics wrong through his actions. He said that the singular action of the composition of the board was a vital step in the process of implementation of the UNEP report.

He assured the Ogoni people that President Buhari has the political will to execute the clean- up exercise. He called on the people to resist any attempt by their detractors to push them into derailing the project, pointing out that there were people who wanted the project to fail as a political gimmick.
