Rivers Guber: Appeal Court Reserves Ruling On Wike, PDP’s Application

PDP: Wike rules out zoning in Rivers

The court of appeal yesterday reserved judgement in the three separate appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and its governorship candidate in Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike.
In the appeal, Governor Wike and PDP among others are asking the court of appeal to set aside the ruling of the state governorship election petitions tribunal which held that it has power to sit in Abuja instead of Port-Harcourt.
They also asked the court to set aside the request of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside to inspect the ballot papers, voter registers, and result sheets and other election materials used by INEC for the April 11, election.
Also the appellant want the court of appeal to determine whether the tribunal was properly constituted by the president of the court of appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachua.
During the proceedings of the court yesterday, lawyer of Wike, Emmanuel Ukala, asked the court to rule in his favour on the ground that the tribunal was wrong in granting permission to inspect election materials without given them adequate notice.
The counsel also argued that the court of appeal should hold that the tribunal has no power to sit in Abuja but in Rivers State where the disputed election was conducted.
The argument of the governorship lawyer was also canvases by Dayo Adedipe representing PDP at the court.
