MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Senator Bala Mohammed Friday asked traditional rulers in the Federal Capital Territory to support President Goodluck Jonathan in all ramifications, just as he stressed that the President and the administration need the prayers of the monarchs.

Speaking during the official  installation and presentation of Staff of office to four graded Traditional Rulers in the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Mohammed who promised that the government will accelerate the procurement process of purchasing vehicles for them as well as renovate their palaces to place them at par with their counterparts across the country, however urged the traditional rulers to ensure that they carry out a holistic surveillance of their areas to ensure that illegal immigrants do not infiltrate the territory through their domains, adding that as traditional rulers, they must mobilise their subjects to support the transformation agenda of President Jonathan.

The FCT Minister who also charged the traditional rulers to help protect the laws and customs of the people, however urged them to help provide purposeful leadership, adding that the government will never take for granted their goodwill.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Power and the Senator representing the FCT, Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda who noted that history was being made with the event, said that for sixteen years, the people waited for the presentation of staff of office to the traditional rulers.

Also in his remarks, member representing AMAC/ Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Zephaniah Jisalo, who said that the FCT had long been waiting for the presentation of staff of office, however boasted that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will continue to grow in the nation’ s capital city.

In his goodwill message, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on FCT, Emmanuel Jime said that for democracy to thrive in Nigeria, there must be good participation at the grassroots.

The Minister at the old Parade ground, Area 10, Abuja yesterday presented Staff of Office to Mohammed Bello Umar, Agora of Zuba; Ibrahim Danlami Yaro, the Esu Bwari; Hussaini Agabi Mam, the Agabe of Ugbada (Gwargwada) and Abdullahi Adamu, the Etsu Yaba.

Earlier in her remarks, Minister of State, FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide who noted that it was a promise fulfilled during campaigns, said, “the Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) Act N0. 7 of 1998, Laws of Federal Capital Territory established the FCT chieftaincy institution. With this law, fourteen (14) chieftaincy districts were delineated and successful candidates who sailed through the various selection processes ascended the various stools.”
