Emenike: Arsenal are not special

Nigeria’s topmost striker, Emmanuel Emenike is looking forward to taking on Arsenal in a UEFA Champions League play-off on Wednesday.

Emenike, Africa’s highest scorer at the last Nations Cup in South Africa, completed a four-year deal with Turkey’s Fenerbahce last week and made his debut on Saturday night as they lost 2- 3 to Konyaspor.

“Arsenal are like any other club side and I don’t think there’s anything special about them.

“It is, however, a good feeling for me playing against such a massive side from England.

“I know they are a good football-playing side with flair, but when we meet on Wednesday, I believe we will settle it on the pitch,” said Emenike.

He continued: “Arsenal have a playing style like that of Barcelona, and I have played against Barcelona before.

“We also have great players who have played in top flight, so that wouldn’t be a problem.”

Admitting that Arsenal might pose a threat, Emenike said: “It will be a risk to underrate a team like Arsenal but I know we have what it takes to curtail their fire-power. We are totally ready.”
