Plot To Kill Amaechi: Arrest Amachree Now, PDP Tells Police

The Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State Chapter has expressed dissatisfaction over the seeming delay by the Police authorities to arrest and investigate the impeached Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr Otelemaba Dan Amachree as ordered by a Port Harcourt High Court about three weeks running.

The Party said its discomfort over the Police inaction on the court order is borne out of the fact that the Rivers State Government has continued to make frantic efforts aimed at frustrating series of investigations of its officials who are culpable in various heinous crimes and offences perpetrated in course of the current crisis in the state, particularly the July 9, 2013 incident at the hallowed chamber of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The PDP in a statement issued in Port Harcourt signed by Jerry Needam, Adviser on Media to the State Party Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah, said the expectation was that the Commissioner of Police would act swiftly considering the sensitive nature and how serious Mr Otelemaba Amachree’s allegation of a grand plot to kill the executive governor of the state, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.

The Party believes that acting urgently and in accordance to the law on the issue will not only douse the tension and fears already created by the assassination plot as alleged by Otelemaba Dan Amachree but will go a long way to reassuring the citizenry of the impartiality and commitment of the Police in crime prevention and protection of lives and property in the state.  Continue reading
