Guber Race: You Are Alone, Ikwerre Group Tells Wike

The Ikwerre Political Forum (IPF) has dissociated itself from the alleged plan by the minister of state for Education, Mr EzebunwoNyesomWike, to contest for the 2015 governorship election in Rivers State.

It also dissociated itself from any purported plan to prevent other ethnic groups in the state from having the governorship slot after an Ikwerre son, Governor ChibuikeRotimiAmaechi, has completed his tenure in 2015.

IPF leader, Chief Andrew Uchendu, told journalists yesterday that “the Ikwerre are good at reciprocating good things done for them, saying for 40 years, the ethnic nationality fought for the governorship ticket until in 2007, when Governor Amaechi assumed the office.

He said; “Ogbakor-Ikwerre, which is the umbrella body of the Ikwerre nationality have also taken a positive step that they will not support any other Ikwerre candidate to challenge other ethnic groups in the state from aspiring for governorship office because, they have taken their turn.

“But, that does not stop A or B from contesting. That, as far as the Ikwerre National Forum is concerned, we cannot support any of our own to go and challenge other tribes to run for the governorship ticket in 2015”, he said.
