PDP Wants Amaechi’s Wife, Commissioners Probed

The Leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State says the way and manner Governor Chibuike Amaechi and his frontline cabinet members are playing politics with the endangered life of Hon Michael Chinda shows they have no value for human life. “What this shameful development also shows is that the attempted murder of Hon Michael Chindah by Hon Chidi Lloyd in the presence of Amaechi on 9th July, 2013 was planned”
In a statement issued by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media to the State PDP Chairman, Hon Felix Obuah, the party expressed shock that since the July 9, 2013 unfortunate incident in the State House of Assembly, neither Gov Amaechi nor his Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Worgu Boms or any other member of his fold had visited or asked of the health condition of the dying lawmaker in London.

All they are concerned about, the party regretted is how to secure the release of their arrowhead, and attempted murder suspect, Chidi Lloyd hoping to use the office of the State Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Worgu Boms who also was physically present alongside Gov Amaechi to supervise the dastardly act by Chidi Lloyd.

The  party also noted that the entire House of Assembly fracas of that day was  activated and amplified by Governor Amaechi’s presence and this should have provoked some human kindness in him towards Chindah. It is for this reason that the party calls on the relevant security agencies to take appropriate actions against his  personal security aides who, were grand partakers in the violence against some law makers.
While questioning Amaechi’s moral standing either directly or by proxy to intervene in the court trial to free the  embattled former House Leader, Chidi Lloyd, the party said that the judiciary will lose its integrity if judges allow themselves to be tossed around by Amaechi.

The PDP said the hurried taking over of Chidi Lloyd’s case today by Amaechi’s Commissioner of Justice, Worgu Boms immediately after plea was taken  has further confirmed the fear the party had expressed that justice is on suspension in this matter

The party said they are also aware of plans by the Commissioner of Justice, Worgu Boms having taken over the case, to discontinue the criminal charges against Chidi Lloyd, by next sitting of the court.
Meanwhile, the State PDP leadership has described the investigation of Chidi Lloyd and some officials of the State Government by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged diversion of public funds and other sundry financial misappropriations as a welcome development.
The party said the speed and quantum with which the State funds are being disbursed and channeled to non-development efforts since the political crisis in the State started calls for questioning. The statement further alleged that the alleged sitting by the House of Assembly to give approval to Gov Amaechi’s supplementary budget on the day of the House fracas  was meant to accommodate and legitimize the huge spending in the selfish ambition of Amaechi.

The party also wants the anti-graft agency to extend its tentacles to the accounts of the State House of Assembly which we suspect, has been hugely used as a conduit pipe to siphon state funds. Funds received for constituency projects which were diverted by some of the members of the Assembly can only be unearthed through a thorough investigation.

The PDP also insists that even the wife of Governor Amaechi, Dame Judith Amaechi and the various council chairmen should be thoroughly investigated by the EFCC, alleging that both the First lady and the Council Chairmen collaborated to rip the state of about N35, 000.000 per council to fund the Judith Amaechi’s pet project, the Empowerment Support Initiative, ESI.
“These are some of the reasons why the state leadership of the party called for proper accountability by our political office holders but the Amaechi administration went to court to stop the party, the statement added.
In order to continue to maintain the peace, the party appealed to Rivers people to remain calm, stressing that justice must be done to all.
