Fiscal Federalism Will Address Lack of Economic Diversification - Rivers Deputy Speaker

he Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly,Hon.Leyii Kwanee has condemned the summoning of the Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon.Chidi Lloyd by the Force Headquarters while some of the legislators who were involved in the brigandage are left to walk freely in the streets of Port Harcourt.

Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Deputy Speaker stated that what could have been appropriate was for the police to invite all those who were involved in the fracas for questioning.

Hon. Kwanee who is a lawyer and the member representing Khana Constituency 2 in the State Assembly, condemned the selective approach where only the House leader was singled out.

He advised the Police to carry out an unbiased investigation adding that any contrary action of the Police would portray them in bad light in Rivers State.

“If they want to do a thorough work they should carry out an unbiased investigation”, he said.

He further said the people of Rivers State are seeing the State’s Police Commissioner Mr. Mbu as being partial and that the invitation of Hon. Lloyd selectively is a confirmation that the entire police Force are acting to script.

Hon. Kwanee who is also the Chairman, Parlaimentary Exchange and Mentorship Programme of the Pan African Parliament, urged the Police to maintain neutrality in the interest of our democracy.

He appealed to the supporters of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to remain calm and law abiding in the face of provocation stressing that persistent sticking to the rule of law is our contribution to avoid the breaking down of law and order pointing out that at the end, peace and sanity will be restored.
