PDP: Wike rules out zoning in Rivers

PORT HARCOURT— MINISTER of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike has ruled out zoning in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State in the next general elections.

Wike at a sensitisation programme organised by Grassroots Development Initiative in Elele, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, also said that he was now the acting leader of the party in the state with the suspension of Governor Chibuike Amaechi.

According to him, the decision to throw offices open for contest by all sections of the state would further strengthen internal democracy in the party, adding that it would  give room for the party to produce the best candidates for the elections.

Continuing, he showered praises on President Goodluck Jonathan, saying that he had done well for the state. Wike said so far, the President had appointed a good number of Rivers sons as chairmen of federal parastatals.

On his part, the factional state Chairman of the party, Mr. Felix Obuah, said all efforts he made to reclaim what he termed his stolen mandate were unsuccessful until Wike stepped in.
