We Will Only Negotiate After Creation of Bori State, Clean Up – MOSOP

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) says there will be no negotiation on the issue of resumption of oil exploration in Ogoniland until the government creates a state for Ogoni and cleans up the area. Chairman of MOSOP Kingdom Coordinators Forum Mr. Frank Jonah made this known today in a telephone chat with Ogoninews.com

Mr. Jonah said the Ogoni oil will no longer be available for states who produce virtually nothing while Ogoni people lavish in abject poverty.

He noted that the health situation in Ogoni is terrible with an increasing death rate and the resources of the Ogoni people are taken and shared by the major ethnic groups while Ogoni people are left to die in Shell polluted land

“If they want us to negotiate, let them create a state for Ogoni as a matter of urgency and necessity, then we can talk. And even if we have to agree on oil resumption after our demands are met, we will not accept Shell back to Ogoniland.”

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) had been in the forefront of minority struggles for self determination in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
