Gokana United Targets Victory in Opening Game of Season

One of Rivers State’s flagbearers in Nigeria’s Nation-wide Division 2 League, Gokana United FC is poised to kick-off the season with victory as it hosts former pro-league side, Bussdor FC of Owerri in the season’s opening fixture today in Bera, Gokana Local Government Area.

According to the club’s media officer, Martins Giadom, the club had undergone intensive preparation to ensure that they put smiles on the faces of their sponsor and fans in  Gokana, Rivers State and beyond.

Already, the chief motivator and Chairman of Gokana  LGA, Hon. Demua Ledee Demua has promised incentives that will ensure that the players give out their best against Bussdor United today.

The Chairman, according to Giadom is dangling the carrot of N100,000 gift for each goal the team scores against Bussdor and an enjoyable Easter season for the players.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of the club, Ambassador Solom Lah has stated that every club that visits Gokana this season, while they may meet an uncompromising hosts on the field of play, would leave the community with good impression of their conduct and hospitality.

He said that Gokana has everything to make a visitor feel at home.

In another Nation-wide Division 2 C match scheduled for tomorrow, the state’s other representative, Omaka FC is away to Dynamites FC.

There are fine clubs in the Division, FC Arinze making up the number, and the Rivers flag-bearers must finish tops to have hopes of promotion at the end of the season.
