MOSOP Announces Dissolution of Committee

Beyond true federalism, Ogoni, Bakassi clamour for self-determination without justification

The newly inaugurated leadership of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) has announced the dissolution of all committees it met in existence. Announcing this in a statement circulated to journalists in Port Harcourt on Saturday by its new president, Legborsi Saro-Pyagbara, the movement warned the general public to be watchful against frauds which would come in the name of MOSOP committees.

Pyagbara, who received the baton of leadership from former chairman of the MOSOP Provisional Council (MPC), Professor Ben Naanen, on Friday, said the movement would in due course set up new committees, whose representations would be made known to the public.

“Following the official handover of the baton of leadership to the new executive of MOSOP yesterday and planned re-organisation in the movement, it has become important to officially inform you that all committees in MOSOP stand dissolved.

“MOSOP wishes to inform the unsuspecting public to be wary of any individual or group who purports to be representing any committee on behalf of the movement and discountenance any statement or publication there from.”

“Following ongoing consultations with our grassroots audience, MOSOP shall inform you in due time of the formation of new committees and their compositions,” he said.
