04 JANOgoni Day 2013: Akpobari Calls for an End to Land Seisure, Urges Ogoniland Cleanup
Exactly 20 years today, the ogoni celebrated their first “world indigenous peoples day” popularly known as “ogoni day”. On that occasion, shell was declared a persona non grata in ogoni land. As the oppressed, marginalized and economically disempowered ogoni people gather again, this time at the ken saro wiwa freedom square, the people will be asking for a stop to land seizure and immediate implementation of unep report without further delay.It is already 15 months since that “death sentence” of a report was released, yet, nothing has been done beyond a criminal silence and beer parlour statements on implementation.Today, the ogoni will issue another stern warning to shell to stop the ongoing invasion of oil producing sites with truck loads of soldiers who should ordinarily be in the northern part of nigeria to combat the boko haram menace.Governor rotimi amaechi will also be directed to immediately withdraw soldiers stationed in some ogoni communities to facilitate his desire to forcefully take away the remaining arable farm land from the already traumatized ogoni people. As expected, these soldiers have continued to murder innocent and law abiding ogoni people, the recent being the shooting at close range of one miss gift gote yesterday (january 3, 2013) morning at zor sogho in khana local government area of rivers state.After the shooting, her corpse was taking away to an unknown destination by same soldiers.
These same soldiers threatened to arrest me last november 10, 2012 for mobilising and addressing ogoni people during the 17th anniversary commemoration of the murder of ken saro wiwa and eigth others.

HURAC is a club instituted by the Movement For the Survival of the Ogoni People, which is open to all secondary schools within and outside Ogoni and also to all intending members.
