Never Never Again
When a peaceful community was ravaged
And the people harassed and traumatized
With guns and other military weapons
Never Never will marauding soldiers stampede
On a peaceful and serene people, Never Again
Never Never Again
Will our environment and livelihood
Be destroyed and put in jeopardy
Or will there be the introduction of decay
In our governance-
Never Never shall we tolerate
Internal colonialism and sub-imperialism
Never Never Again
Shall we allow our children
To stay out of school for an unending period
And the school system closed-unfunctional
Never, Never Again
Never Never Again
Shall we tolerate human rights violations
In our homed, villages, cities and communities
When men are punished, conscripted, women and girls raped
And children brutalized and hypnotized
When properties of our people are looted, stolen and carted away
Never Never Again
When scarcity of fish and food
Was noticed in our homeland
Scrounging for food
And prevalent in the entire Ogoniland
From Baen to Sii
And from Kono to Alesa
Never Never Again
Can cars be cannibalized
Amputated
Lay by the road side
Abandoned
And Forgotten
Never Never Again
Can Ogoni rise again?
Yes we will, Yes we can
When the tormentors are gone
And a new phase of development is in place
Thriving bountifully well
Like well tendered farmlands in Babbe, Eleme, Gokana, Ken Khana, Nyo- Khana and Tai
Never Never Again
Can a pack of wild dogs
Scrounging for food and other edibles
Reaps human sculls
Abandoned
And Forgotten by retreating soldiers
In a shallow gutter, pit, trenches
