Hacking Attempt on HURAC facebook Account Rebuffed

Our official facebook account was last night being hacked into by an unknown person (group of persons) at exactly 22:03 BST, exactly 14:03 in the hacker’s location in Los Angeles, CA, US.  Although the hacker was able to gain access to the account, it was immediately reported to HURAC and we swiftly took measures to recover the account with help from facebook.

As a result, significant security measures have been carried out on all our online accounts and websites.  The IP address (70.39.185.213) of the suspect was noted and has been reported to the suspect’s Internet provider (Packet Exchange) and other relevant authorities concerned.  We are hoping that the suspect will soon be brought to book in less than no time.  Any information on the above IP address would be greatly appreciated by us.

As a warning note, please be aware that HURAC online accounts have great apps and softwares that report who visit, when visit, where a particular visitor is browsing from and the recent page (s) that you are on (or you browsed).   This means that we keep track of every visitor on our site for security reasons and we also check statistics of visitors to ensure that no fraudulent activities have been undertaken.  The team responsible for HURAC online accounts is a very trusted and experienced one and work effectively to ensure tight security of all our accounts.  HURAC webmaster and admin is also an internet genius, so please don’t be tempted to hack our sites in the future.  We receive alerts of your activities on our sites as it happens (in seconds) so there is no way we cannot detect what you do on our sites taking example from what happened last night

Following the attack yesterday, one of our sites, THE OGONI STRUGGLE has been temporary shutdown and users will now be redirected to HURAC main site onwards.    Details of when it will be published again will be posted on facebook.

HURAC is a student-led club that aims to enlighten the students in Ogoni secondary schools on their fundamental human rights.  We are concerned about Ogoni’s development and therefore, see no reason why enemies of Ogoni development will want to hack into our facebook account.  Anyone who feels disturbed about our activities on facebook or elsewhere, say in Bori should kindly write to us at enquiry@huraclub.org stating clearly WHY he/she does not like our existence.
